Business challenge

As an established Ayurvedic hospital, Kesavatheeram had built a strong clinical reputation over the years. However, its digital presence didn’t fully reflect that reputation. That gap mattered because visibility and trust had become the deciding factors before a patient ever made contact — not the clinical reputation itself, but whether that reputation was visible at the moment someone was searching.

Project overview

This gap is common across Kerala’s Ayurvedic healthcare sector. Patients rarely rely on referrals alone today. They search for hospitals, treatments, and doctors, compare options, read reviews, and build confidence before making contact. The digital experience therefore becomes part of the hospital’s overall patient experience, not merely a marketing asset.
For Kesavatheeram specifically, that meant searches for the hospital by name, for Ayurvedic care in Kannur, and increasingly for the specific treatment being considered, from Panchakarma to condition-specific therapies like varicose vein treatment. In each case, a patient was forming a view of the hospital’s credibility, its doctors, and its relevance to their condition before ever making contact.
The project was scoped around that reality rather than around a conventional service list. Website Development, SEO, and Local SEO were planned together, not delivered as three separate pieces.
The website was built to hold treatment and doctor information the way a patient actually needs to see it. SEO made that information findable for the searches patients were actually running. And Local SEO ensured the hospital’s Google Business Profile carried its own share of that discovery — not as an afterthought, but as a channel in its own right.
This reflects loreD’s broader Growth Engineering approach: the individual pieces matter less than how they’re sequenced. In a category like Ayurvedic healthcare — where trust is built over years and verified in minutes — a website with no search visibility is invisible at the moment a patient starts looking, and search visibility that leads to a website without clear treatment and doctor information loses the trust it just spent effort earning. Kesavatheeram’s project was scoped to close both gaps at once.

Project objectives

Modernise the digital presence
Bring the website to the standard patients expect from a healthcare provider they’re trusting with their care.
Improve the patient experience
Reorganise the site around how a patient actually researches and decides, not around how the hospital is internally structured.
Increase search visibility
Across the hospital’s name, local Ayurvedic searches, and specific treatments.
Improve Local SEO
A fully optimised Google Business Profile that carries real weight in local discovery, not a secondary listing.
Build treatment-specific discoverability
Treatment pages built to be found, not just to exist.
Strengthen digital trust
Verifiable doctor credentials, clear treatment information, and a consistent presence across every touchpoint a patient checks before enquiring.

Project scope

The scope was organised into three areas that mirror how a patient actually moves from first search to first consultation: a website that holds up once they arrive, SEO that gets them there, and Local SEO that captures the searches happening closer to home, on Maps and in local results rather than the open web.

Search strategy

With the website and Local SEO foundation in place, discoverability came down to matching that foundation against how patients were actually searching. The project established visibility across three distinct search journeys, each representing a different stage of a patient’s decision-making.
Brand discovery
Patients who already know the hospital, searching to confirm details, read reviews, or find photos before a first or follow-up visit — searches like “Kesavatheeram,” “Kesavatheeram Ayurveda Hospital,” “Kesavatheeram Reviews,” and “Kesavatheeram Photos,” among similar variations. It’s the layer that’s easiest to take for granted, but a hospital’s own name is often the very first search a prospective patient runs after hearing about it from someone else — which makes it worth the same care as the searches that bring in patients who’ve never heard of the hospital at all.
Local discovery
Patients who know they want Ayurvedic care and are searching within a geography rather than for a specific hospital — “Best Ayurvedic Hospital in Kannur,” “Kannur Ayurvedic Hospital,” “Ayurveda Hospital Kannur,” “Ayurveda Hospital Near Me,” “Ayurvedic Treatment in Kannur,” “Best Ayurvedic Doctor in Kannur.” This is where most new patients enter the funnel: they’ve chosen a location and a category of care, but not yet a hospital, which makes this the search layer with the most competitive pressure — and the most to gain from a consistently well-optimised local presence.
Treatment discovery
Patients searching for a specific condition or treatment rather than a hospital by name — “Varicose Veins Treatment in Ayurveda,” “Ayurvedic Treatment for Varicose Veins,” “Prasava Raksha Package Kannur,” “Panchakarma,” “Ayurvedic Massage,” “Eczema Treatment.” This group matters because many of these patients haven’t yet decided on Ayurveda as a treatment path, let alone a specific hospital. Reaching them at this earlier stage introduces Kesavatheeram to a prospective patient before a competing hospital does, at the exact moment their research begins — which is a fundamentally different job than winning a patient who’s already decided to search for the hospital by name.

Project assets

The website was designed as a patient communication platform, not a digital brochure. Its structure was built around what a prospective patient actually needs before making contact: the major eye care services the hospital offers, information about the doctors treating them, a clear way to raise an enquiry, and accessible contact details that don’t require hunting through the site to find.

Search visibility

This section represents monitored keyword visibility across the healthcare searches that matter most to Kesavatheeram — a separate measurement from the Google Search Console clicks and impressions covered in Organic Search Performance below, tracked through different tooling and not directly comparable query-for-query. Across this dataset, Kesavatheeram established measurable search visibility across more than 100 healthcare-related search queries, spanning all three intent groups above. The figures below reflect a Search Visibility Score per query — not a cumulative total, and not ranking positions.

Two findings are worth acting on. First, “Hospitals & Clinics” — a broad category term rather than a Kesavatheeram-specific one — appears with substantial visibility, which reflects the site’s improved technical foundation being recognised for general healthcare search, not only for terms it was directly optimised around. Second, location-anchored variations of the hospital’s category (“Kannur Ayurvedic Hospital,” “Kannur Ayurveda Hospital,” “Ayurvedic Hospital Kannur”) appear multiple times with different phrasing and different visibility levels — a reminder that patients don’t search in one consistent way, and that local content has to account for that variation rather than optimising around a single preferred phrase.

Organic search performance

This section represents Google Search Console data — actual clicks and impressions from organic search results, a different measurement from the Search Visibility figures above. Across the 100 queries in this dataset, the website received 1,560 clicks from 39,168 impressions — an average click-through rate of roughly 4%, though that figure varies significantly by search intent, as the breakdown below shows.

Google Search Console, top local and treatment discovery queries by clicks — 3-month period. Brand queries (the hospital’s own name and close variants) are summarised in the text below rather than listed individually.
Brand queries — “kesavatheeram,” “kesavatheeram ayurveda hospital,” and close spelling variants including “keshavatheeram” — aren’t listed row by row above, since they’re direct-name lookups rather than discovery in the way local and treatment searches are. Collectively they generated 588 clicks at a 13.5% click-through rate, the highest of any category — expected, since a patient searching the hospital’s own name has already decided to look for it specifically.
Treatment discovery queries, by contrast, make up 73 of the 100 tracked queries and the largest share of total impressions, but convert at a lower rate per query — consistent with patients who are earlier in their research, comparing options rather than looking for one hospital by name.
The dataset also includes treatment-related searches in Hindi and Malayalam — for conditions including asthma, eczema, myopia, and varicose veins — generating impressions alongside the English-language queries above. That’s a genuine, if modest, signal of reach beyond English-language search, worth watching as a category to build on rather than a settled outcome.

Local search performance

The Google Business Profile became a discovery channel in its own right, generating clicks from both treatment-specific and location-specific searches — not simply serving as a directory listing.

Google Business Profile clicks — 3-month average.

Branded searches for the hospital’s own name also remained strong — a reflection of Kesavatheeram’s existing reputation, and a reminder that Local SEO’s job isn’t only to build visibility from nothing. It’s also to make sure a hospital’s already-earned reputation is fully captured online, rather than leaking away to a thin or incomplete profile.
What’s notable in the click data above is how much of it comes from treatment-specific searches rather than the hospital’s name or general category terms. “Varicose Veins Treatment in Ayurveda” alone generated more Google Business Profile clicks than any location-based search in this sample. That pattern supports the case for treatment-specific discoverability as a distinct objective, rather than an assumption that ranks alongside general local visibility: patients researching a named condition are a real and substantial channel of their own, and the profile has to be built out treatment by treatment to capture them.

Why this project matters

Patients no longer choose a hospital solely on the strength of a referral. A typical patient journey today runs through several stages before a single conversation happens with the hospital itself:

Symptoms→
Google Search →
Treatment Research →
Hospital Comparison →
Google Reviews  →
Hospital Website →
Doctor Profiles →
Enquiry →
Consultation →
This project was built to support every stage of that journey rather than a single point in it. Treatment discovery and local discovery searches meet a patient at “Symptoms” through “Treatment Research” — often before Kesavatheeram is even one of the hospitals they’re comparing. Local SEO and the Google Business Profile carry the weight of “Hospital Comparison” and “Google Reviews,” where a patient is actively narrowing down a shortlist. The rebuilt website — its treatment pages, doctor pages, and information architecture — is what a patient encounters at “Hospital Website” and “Doctor Profiles,” the stage where credibility is either confirmed or lost. And a site built around a clear patient journey, rather than internal hospital structure, is what turns that confidence into an actual “Enquiry.”
None of these stages work in isolation. A hospital with a strong website and no local search presence is invisible at the moment most patients start looking. A hospital with strong search visibility and a website that doesn’t answer a patient’s real questions loses the trust it just spent effort earning. This project was scoped so those pieces would reinforce each other, for exactly that reason.

Key takeaway

The wider lesson isn’t about any single channel. A hospital can rank well and still lose a patient at the website, or build a strong website and stay invisible in search. This project holds up because Website Development, SEO, and Local SEO were designed so no single piece had to carry the weight alone — proof that sequencing matters as much as the individual pieces.
